Join ULI San Francisco on July 14th at 11:00am for an in depth discussion with New York Times Bestselling author, Richard Rothstein, about his book The Color of Law, which exposes the powerful and disturbing history of how American governments deliberately imposed racial segregation on cities nationwide and promoted discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.
A must-read for anyone in the real estate and land use industry, The Color of Law expands our understanding of this history, showing how government policies led to the creation of officially segregated public housing, the demolition of previously integrated neighborhoods, and federal subsidies for builders on the condition that no homes be sold to African Americans. Finally, Rothstein shows how police and prosecutors brutally upheld these standards by supporting violent resistance to black families in white neighborhoods.
